We have celebrated the centennial of the establishment of Texas Technological College, but fall 2025 will mark the centennial of the first quarter of classes. One hundred years ago was a time of many firsts for Texas Tech: the first building(s), the first sports team, the first president. This list could go on and on, but an obvious one, especially at an institution of higher learning, are the “firsts” in academics. Classes started on Oct. 1, 1925. This presentation will take a look at the first fall at Texas Tech. Jennifer Spurrier, associate archivist at the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library will lead the discussion.
