AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP is a program for individuals aged 55+ to engage in volunteer service that meets critical community needs. It connects thousand of seniors with local organizations, allowing them to choose how, where and when to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours to 40 per week. Lubbock RSVP serves Lubbock and surrounding areas, reaching beyond county boundaries. Joan Blackmon, MBA, TTUHSC, is a former Lubbock RSVP director and program coordinator. She has coordinated the Garrison Institute on Aging Healthy Aging Lecture Series and Healthy Lubbock Initiatives and volunteers with Lubbock Meals on Wheels, South Plains Food Bank, Toys for Tots, Comfort Corps and Texas Silver-Haired Legislature (TSHL).
